the age of the DJ began in 1975, when guys would voice over old rocksteady tunes. The pioneers of this style were people like I-roy, U-roy and Little Joe. Established with the Sound system attendees, it migrated to the recording studio, where it entered its golden time. Later as the old stylization of reggae gave way to roots and steppers. New names emerged like Trinity who worked pretty solidly on the Joe Gibbs sound. Where as Dillinger worked for multiple studios and had an international hit with :- "Cocaine in my brain". Trinity made his name with a track called "Three piece suit" The rythm of which was used later for "Uptown top rankin'" by Althea & Donna, another international hit.

Other people included "Yellowman" and "Ekk-a-mouse", even today with Jamaica largely producing the Dancehall style, there's still DJ's plying their trademark signiture sound.
